Join Other Minds and meet the international roster of guest composers of OM 21 at our pre-festival party, held at the stylish, high modern studio/home of Clive McCarthy and Tricia Bell. This annual fundraising event supports our festival and many other projects honoring maverick composers. The redesigned building, once a Lucky Strike Cigarette factory and later housing the former experimental art organization Capp Street Project, recently was hailed in the New York Times' architecture section.
Hear English composer Gavin Bryars as he regales us in conversation with OM Director Charles Amirkhanian. Following this, Bryars will perform selections from his achingly beautiful piano works that helped prompt a return to, and fascination with, consonance in the avant-garde music world. A reception with light refreshments will follow. Don't miss this rare opportunity to mix and mingle in the with the likes of Bryars, Meredith Monk, John Oswald, Michael Gordon, Nicole Lizée, Larry Polansky, Oliver Lake, Phil Kline, Cecile Ore, and Lasse Thoresen, along with the performers of OM 21.
When: Thursday, March 3, 7-9:30 PM
